LIVE PERFORMANCES
In K-pop, there are many elements of creativity which stand out however the amount of music performances by k-pop artists show many elements of creativity. In the US artists usually perform their hit singles at award shows, and talk shows as a promotion. However, in the k-pop industry there is a large difference. In Korean music industry the music companies sponsor seven weekly music shows – Mnet’s M Countdown, SBS MTV’s The Show, Arirang’s Simply K-pop, MBC’s Music Core, MBC Music’s Show Champion, Big Four’; KBS’s Music Bang and SBS’s Inkigayo. Many K-pop bands and artists perform their songs in the music shows and the viewer’s vote on one performance which they found most creative. This is usually based on all the elements of creativity such as fashion, the beat of the song, the lighting/background, choreography and hairstyles/music.
